There are some great food and drink events coming up! Here’s what you should do:
Friday through Sunday, 11/5-11/7: Taste of the World Festival
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. Organizers say last-minute costs “levied by the venue” forced them to cancel the event. They are honoring full refunds for any pre-purchased tickets on their website http://tasteoftheworldfestival.com/
Saturday, 11/6: Vegan Beer Fest
Vegan beer, vegan food…and even vegan bands! Sample more than 50 craft beers (unlimited tastes) from brewers like Eagle Rock Brewery, Bootleggers Brewery and Ballast Point. Hit food trucks like the Yalla Truck, Mandoline Grill, Fresh Fries, SeaBird’s and The Frankenstand. Listen to some music (five bands in all). And then thank Tony’s Darts Away, QuarryGirl and The Roxy for pulling it all together. Here’s what you should do this weekend:
Saturday and Sunday, 10/23 and 10/24: Artisanal LA
This inaugural event is the place to be if you’re into local, sustainable and handmade edibles. Or if you just like good food. Sample and shop among the butcher, spice, baked goods, chocolate and beverage vendors; meet local cookbook authors; and sit-in on hands-on workshops. The delicious list of participants includes some of my personl faves–and so many I’ve written about!–like Compartes (Jonathan Grahm’s fabulous chocolates are above), Cake Monkey, Chocovivo and more. Proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels, Woolly School Gardens and the LA Regional Food Bank. Get tickets online for $10, or they’re $15 at the door (cash only). 11am-6pm.
